Oregano

Oregano is a Mediterranean plant encountered from Truva to Mersin. The plant is apr. 30-40cm long. It is seen all the cost along Mediterranean Sea. It is collected and gathered by villagers from the nature. But since 1-2 years the farming has started and seems to be growing everywhere. Farming is done in 600 hectares but always in native regions. According to Exporter Union Statistics Turkey is exporting around 6500 tones in a year to the whole world.Oregano is used either as a culinary or pharmaceutical purposes. It is known that Oregano is antibacterial and antifungial material. As a folk remedy it is prepared like tea aromatic and known good for curing cold , stomach pains and reducing blood sugar. Oregano's Oil also has been extracted and used for industrial purposes and keeping foods fresh.
